Lynette Procter

I'm Lynette, a person-centred counsellor working from my private practice based in Woodlesford, Leeds. I offer a compassionate and understanding approach that revolves around empathy, unconditional positive regard, and creating a safe haven for self-exploration.

My journey to becoming a counsellor started many years ago when I personally experienced positive changes in myself that occurred through talking openly with a person who listened to me without judgement.  It was then I decided I would embark on the training required to become a counsellor in my own right so I could ensure that others would experience the gift and benefits of being seen and heard for who they truly are.

I work with clients covering a diverse range of issues and difficulties but do have a particular interest in ADHD and the impact it has on the lives of the individual and loved ones.

I am deeply committed to providing empathetic and nonjudgmental support to those navigating the varied challenges that come with ADHD. Recognising the sometimes-debilitating struggles but also the unique strengths associated with ADHD, I am dedicated to creating a safe and understanding space where my clients feel safe enough to explore their experiences and goals.

My passion for supporting those with ADHD stems from my own personal connection to the subject, having received a late diagnosis after years of struggling with thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that I had no control over. I genuinely understand the barriers and complexities associated with ADHD and am filled with a desire to provide compassionate and effective support to anyone struggling. I want to ensure that my clients feel validated and supported as they navigate through their own life experience of living with ADHD whether diagnosed or not.

Addiction and ADHD are often complex and interconnected, and I work closely with each client to understand the deeper factors that influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours particularly around substance/alcohol misuse.

My aim is to be a supportive ally on everyone’s counselling journey, helping them navigate the complexities of addiction with empathy and encouragement, building a strong foundation for lasting positive change. I have a deep understanding around the impact of addiction on family and loved ones, having lived experience from both perspectives, and this aspires me to support, encourage and empower others embarking on their own unique pathway to healing and recovery.

I strongly believe that I can help you find the inner strength and resilience needed to grow, heal, and create lasting change. If you are looking for support for yourself or a loved one, I’m here to help. Please reach out and we can take the next steps together.

My Approach

As a person-centred counsellor, I firmly believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to support and guide you in discovering your own solutions and empowering you to make meaningful changes. Throughout your counselling sessions, I will provide a compassionate and empathetic presence as we explore your concerns and work towards your desired outcomes.

In our initial meeting, I believe it’s important to have an open and collaborative discussion about your reasons for seeking counselling. Together, we will explore what has brought you here, as well as your hopes and fears regarding the counselling process. Establishing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is essential for our work together to be effective.

My professional Commitments

To ensure the highest standard of care, I engage in regular supervision with an experienced counselling supervisor. This practice allows me to maintain a healthy and professional approach to my work. Additionally, I actively seek ongoing professional development opportunities such as workshops and training courses to enhance my skills and knowledge.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical framework and regulations, ensuring that our work together is conducted with integrity and professionalism. I also hold full professional indemnity insurance, and hold a clear, fully comprehensive DBS barring service check for your peace of mind.
